This year at QMC we learned about a lot of different things. All of these have been fun and interesting.
Weather: This was the first topic we covered in Science this year.
We covered many areas of weather, and heard many funny stories about Mr. Savage's various encounters with the elements.
Chemistry: This was another topic we covered this year. This was quite dangerous, as we had to experiment with some dangerous chemicals. Before we started this topic, we had to revise our lab rules.
Forces/Rocket Science: This was another really awesome topic. We explored things such as friction, push and pull, etc. We all had a really good time checking out Mr Savage's car.
While we were studying forces, we also visited Rocket Science.
This was great, as we got the opportunity to design and build our own rockets, and shoot them off using antacid tablets. By the end of this time, I think we all thought we were real rocket scientists (we were in a way.)
Electronics: In this topic we built mini circuits using the Dick Smith Electronic guide. The various wires etc were very small so these exercises required a lot of concentration. Some circuits we built include: A radio, a water indicator, a light flasher, and a lie detector.
Astronomy, the planets: This topic sort of over-awed us a bit, as we found it really hard to comprehend the many unbeleivable facts that Mr Savage told us. I think we all enjoyed learning about space and the mysteries which surrond it.
We have done heaps of experiments this year in Science, and learned heaps of really good things.
To help us learn all these things we have been on various trips. For example, the Star Lab and Te Papa. Also we had visits from different people to talk about the topics we were learning about.
1998 has been a great year!
