Taranaki Holiday

Mount Taranaki is a dormant volcano that lies about 200 miles north of Wellington along the west coast of the North Island. It rises from sea level to over 7,000 feet in a near-perfect cone that is similar to Japan's Mt. Fuji. We spent 2 days there during the recent mid-winter school holidays, and were lucky to get clear weather for most of our visit.

Here's our nice, new (well .... '98)car, a Mitsubishi Magna station wagon. The Taranaki trip was its first big road trip, and it passed the test with flying colors.
